The rute of this type has at least two ways of use. The rute KOMBI-SOFT is made of about 40 specially processed rattan sticks in cotton braid set in perforated PVC-handle. It is particularly recommended for jazz musicians playing without amplification and using metal or synthetic wire brushes which very often don't live up to the expectations concerning the dynamics of the ride cymbal. They are just too quiet. The KOMBI-SOFT rute produces much stronger and articulated sound on the ride cymbal or crash or splash cymbals. The ride is selective, devoid of low overtones and has clearly defined diamond sound. It's dynamics can easily correspond with the dynamics of a snare drum. Obtaining proper dynamics proportions of all the instruments of the drumset was the priority while constructing the rute. KOMBI-SOFT used as wire brush rubbing the snarehead is not worse than various well-known types of metal or synthetic wire brushes, yet has much greater dynamics and possibilities. It certainly should be a part of each jazz percussionist's fitting.
